Sewing Plans & Me-Made Outfits

Must read

This year my goal is to sew a lot more garments for myself and wear more me-made outfits. In this blog post, I thought I’d share some of my sewing plans for 2022 and other skills I’d like to develop. As well as my plans I’m sharing some of my current favourite me-made outfits that I’m loving on repeat. Continue reading to find out more.

Sewing plans for 2022

This year I am navigating a new postpartum body shape and figuring out my personal style again now I’m a mum. It’s such a surreal experience being pregnant for 9 months and adapting your wardrobe, then having to change it yet again to fit a new body shape. With sewing my own clothing, I am able to choose the styles, shapes, and colors I like but I have to figure out this new ‘me’. It’s going to be a process but one I’ll take my time with through the year. My goal is to make things that I can wear on repeat, that flatter my new shape and also have longevity if my weight fluctuates. This list of goals is challenging but I can choose sewing patterns that aren’t tailored or fitted so I can wear them for longer.

My plan for the year is to sew more basic items I can mix and match. I’m drawn to bright colours, prints, and textures usually so I want to create simple pieces to layer them with. I created a video on my YouTube channel showing some sewing patterns I’ll be trying as well as new fabrics in my stash. Click here to watch the video as it showcases some current plans I have. The top of my sewing priority list is a William Morris print Heather blazer, Pearl wrap cardigan, and floral Indigo smock dress. I’ll be filming sewing vlogs of these makes so make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel.

Current Favourite Me Made Outfits

As well as planning lots of new makes I am trying to wear old favourites already in my wardrobe. Last year I made a few items whilst I was pregnant that I couldn’t wear so it’s great to be able to style them now, especially being slightly oversized and baggy fit. As you will already know if you follow me on Instagram, I am keen on bright colours! Styling my me-made clothing makes me so happy. Knowing the pieces are unique and made for me is the best feeling. Below the images I’ll list what sewing patterns I have used and where the fabric is from.
