Kate-Lois Elliott’s show delves into her mum’s real-life experiences growing up in a cult and explores our innate desire to belong. Kate shares her own reluctance to conform to group mentalities, from social gatherings like hen parties to the influence of WhatsApp groups.
The show cleverly sheds light on how elements of cult-like behaviour can manifest in everyday situations. We even came up with our own cult, albeit not a very good one (to work, this relies on the audience members being one thousandth as funny as Kate, and tonight, at least, we’re not). Overall, it was a thought-provoking and funny performance, marking a confident debut for Kate at the Ed Fringe -and showcasing her clever, witty and unique perspective. Ed Fringe: Gilded Balloon, 4pm daily until 26th August (exc 19th) Tickets: Gilded Balloon
