Each visit to The Corner leaves me with a memorable dining experience. I think it’s a must-visit for anyone seeking lunch food near the Tate Modern or a cosy café on Bankside.
“Pop into the Corner for lunch at the Tate Modern next time you’re in Bankside and try the super tasty salads paired with seeded vegan rolls, decadent filled croissants, creamy quiches, pizzas and plenty of sweet treats,” Homegirl London.
The Corner Tate Modern Lunch Menu
The Corner prides itself on supporting local growers, ensuring every dish is fresh and flavourful. The salads, which change with the seasons, are a highlight. On one occasion, I was captivated by a summer bean salad adorned with hazelnuts, apricots, and spinach, a delightful combination that inspired me to recreate it at home.
Another time, I indulged in a puy lentil salad enriched with roasted yellow and green courgettes, tomatoes, and feta. The vibrant colours and textures made for a fabulous dish.
I have to admit that the tomato salad caught my eye because of its colourful mix of red, purple, yellow and green tomatoes.
The SE1 leaf salad, dressed in a sherry vinaigrette, pairs wonderfully with their creamy, seasonal vegetable quiche, making it the perfect lunchtime companion.
Meanwhile, their beetroot wrap is stuffed with harissa aubergine, chickpea and sesame for something satisfying.
On one of my visits, I devoured the seeded vegan bun with carrot and ginger relish, vegan feta, chilli, and hazelnut dukkah, which left a lasting impression.
If you’re in the mood for something warm, the grilled portobello mushroom, paired with Oxford Blue and leek in a croissant melt, is utterly indulgent. Alternatively, try the super cute pizzette, one of their hearty pies or a bowl of soup.
The selection of sweet treats at The Corner is irresistible, with tempting treats displayed right by the cash register. From the decadent chocolate brownie and rich chocolate cake with raspberries and mascarpone to the baked cheesecake with macerated strawberries. Or the cakes like a classic Victoria Sponge and red velvet.
Another option is the fruit scones with clotted cream, Cornish strawberry and orange jam, which is a delightful way to round off your visit.
To quench your thirst, The Corner offers a wide selection of cocktails and craft beers, many of which are inspired by the art and artists in Tate’s collection. Their award-winning wine cellars provide an extensive variety of wines with plenty of alcohol-free options. Check out their monthly tap takeovers, celebrating independent UK brewers.
