Elegant Breakfast At Lolo Bermondsey Street London SE1

Must read

We recently enjoyed a delightful breakfast at Lolo, the newest addition to José Pizarro’s restaurant family on Bermondsey Street, London SE1. “Lolo” playfully nods to José’s middle name, Manuel, and marks his first venture into all-day dining. The restaurant serves a modern European menu with a playful twist on classic dishes, all made from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Perfect for an elegant morning meal, this all-day dining gem welcomes dogs, making it an excellent spot for pet owners. If you’re looking for an exceptional breakfast near London Bridge, a relaxed lunch on Bermondsey Street, or a memorable dinner in SE1, Lolo should be on your list.

“You’ll love the elegant yet laid-back breakfast experience at Lolo where eggs are the highlight and your pups are welcome,” Homegirl London.

Lolo Breakfast Menu

Lolo’s breakfast menu is centred around eggs, offering various inventive and flavourful options. I chose the vegetarian lazy omelette with Scottish girolles, hazelnuts, and thyme. The eggs were perfectly cooked to my liking, and the dish’s earthy flavours were a testament to the high-quality ingredients.

Our dining companion chose the lazy omelette with cured salmon with dill, crème fraiche, and Lilliput capers, which were equally well-executed and flavourful. I suspect it’s called a lazy omelette because the ingredients are thrown on top!

My partner tried the baked eggs with pisto and thyme croutons. Pisto is a traditional Spanish dish made from a mix of tomatoes, onions, eggplant or courgettes, green and red peppers and olive oil. Other egg options include classic devilled eggs, available with salt-cured anchovy, Sobrasada, or a topping of salt cod and saffron sauce. Egg dishes cost £10-11 for the lazy omelettes and baked options, while the devilled eggs are £3-10.

If eggs aren’t your thing, you might be tempted by the tuna empanada with watercress and tomato salad or the bacon and egg sandwich with pineapple ketchup. The menu also features a bikini sandwich with Iberian ham shoulder 5J and Ermesenda cheese (a raw, unpasteurised cow’s milk cheese from the Alt Urgell mountains of Catalonia, Spain). This thin, pressed grilled sandwich is named after the famed Barcelona nightclub, La Sala Bikini, where it became famous in the 1950s. Other highlights include the Lolo de ternera, a beef sandwich with green peppers and Ermesenda cheese, or simple sourdough with JP’s extra virgin olive oil or butter. Prices range from £8.5-15.50.

For those preferring a lighter or sweeter start, there’s a fruit salad with mint, black pepper, and extra virgin olive oil or the indulgent torrija al vino, a red wine-soaked brioche with whipped cream. For a decadent treat, try the PX chocolate mousse with cherries marinated in vermouth. Or share the Natillas, a creamy Spanish custard, under a thin biscuit layer, as we did! These cost from £6.50-£9.

Lolo’s drink menu covers all the classics, from espresso, flat white, and cappuccino to English breakfast tea, chamomile, and fresh mint. For a boozy brunch, enjoy a Bloody Mary, Buck’s Fizz, Negroni Sbagliato, or Espresso Martini.
