Wisteria tea at Ham House

You may remember my post from last Christmas where Aya and I visited Ham House? We mainly spent our day indoors wandering around the corridors, because in the depths of winter there wasn’t much to see in the gardens.

However, now we returned for Spring the gardens were in full bloom.

The cherry gardens looked greener than ever.

Tulips bloom abundantly around the hedges.

But around this time of the year, the most beautiful highlight of the gardens can be found in the kitchen gardens.

You may remember the orangery cafe from my Christmas post as well.

We had some soup for lunch here to warm up after a long day in the house.

But what I didn’t mention is that the cafe is covered in Wisteria entirely, which is now in full bloom.

Not only does it look beautiful.

It also smells incredible. Filling the entire terrace with the soft, floral fragrance of wisteria.

So instead of sitting inside with a steaming bowl of soup, we decided to have tea in the garden.

The cafe serves a variety of teas, scones, mini jams and clotted cream.

Is there anything better than a cream tea in the garden on a spring afternoon surrounded by beautifully blooming wisteria?

I don’t think so!

In case you were wondering what’s on my hand. It’s a mehndi (henna tattoo) from the Eid celebrations at Trafalgar Square.

Have a read here for more.
